Oct <var data-var='date'> 2</var>, <var data-var='time'>18:51</var> CEST Update - Dear Proton community, On Friday, October 2, 2026, an issue with Apple's developer program caused Proton Mail for Mac and Proton Meet for Mac to stop opening on macOS for some users. MacOS also incorrectly flagged them as malware in some cases. Your data and accounts are safe. The apps were not compromised, and the malware warning was a false positive. While we continue to work with Apple to resolve the situation, we have also released new versions of the apps to work around the problem for affected users. In the meantime, we recommend using the webapps. Apologies for the disruptions caused by this, we will communicate further once we have more information and updates.

Sep <var data-var='date'> 1</var>, <var data-var='time'>20:49</var> CEST Resolved - UPDATE: The incident recovery caused some push notifications related to suspicious login activity to be delivered several hours later than expected. The delay affected only the delivery of these notifications and was related to the service disruption experienced earlier today. The delayed notifications have now been processed, and the system has returned to normal operation. We apologize for any confusion this may have caused. --- Earlier today, a subset of Proton users experienced intermittent service disruptions. The incident began during exceptional database maintenance following last week's datacenter overheating incident. The maintenance had been tested and was expected to cause only a brief disruption. However, the switchover exposed additional instability under high load, and this forced us to remove some additional infrastructure from service and operate at reduced capacity for a time. We have now stabilized all Proton services and all are currently operational. No user data has been lost. We apologize for the disruption. Sep <var data-var='date'> 1</var>, <var data-var='time'>19:26</var> CEST Monitoring - Traffic limitations have been fully removed for all users. Services are returning to normal operation, and outgoing mail will be gradually re-enabled in 15 minutes. We'll confirm here once everything is completely back to normal. Sep <var data-var='date'> 1</var>, <var data-var='time'>19:10</var> CEST Identified - Database capacity is being restored.
